About Us

The British Chinese Law Association (the BCLA) is a bilateral law association recognised by the Law Society.

The BCLA brings together lawyers from the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China. It aims to encourage business relationships between its members, promote mutual understanding between the legal professions of the two countries and foster legal best practice and knowhow.

The BCLA organises seminars, roundtables, social events and legal language exchange sessions.  For the latest BCLA events please see Events.

The BCLA has no political or ethnic associations. To join the BCLA mailing list please see Contact us.

The BCLA was established in 1999 with the aim of cultivating relations between the legal communities in Britain and China.

The BCLA was re-launched in 2009/2010 under an expanded Committee which increased its event base and launched a new website.  The 10–year anniversary a was marked by the BCLA China10 series, launched in 2010 to address the next ten years of legal developments in Britain and China.
